You and Tom Bevan do something in me time and time again when you write. Thank you.

Concerning AI, I have no fear. In fact, I enjoy everyone else's panic. It is amusing. But yes, I am weird, I will be weird. Thank you.

You describe the rising indignation as I've been asked to be "more human" at my job. Which has meant writing with less weirdness, less rigor, less of *me.*

Shocker, then, that the "more human" direction I've been steered in is one easily replicable by machines. A pathetic notion of the human Gestalt shaped by those who feel flattered by easily consumable content.

Brilliant essay, thanks. I may be too much of an optimist, or an egotist, but I don't worry that AI will ever take over my work as a writer. Arthur C. Clarke once said that any teacher who could be replaced by a machine probably should be. I think the same applies to other fields, such as writing, or art, as well.

Fully agree! There's a reason why AI art easily replaces unoriginal "concept art," but fails to copy original styles.
